For those who have experienced recent brain injuries, bleeding disorders or an active cerebrospinal fluid leak it would be recommend delaying treatment for a period of time.

An appointment typically lasts an hour, although this may vary, particularly with children under 7 years old.
For children under the age of 7, an hour is allocated but may more likely result in a 45-minute appointment. Children are very receptive to treatment and less is often more.

After the appointment there can be a short period of adjustment as part of the healing process, where individuals may become more aware of symptoms.
It is important to refrain from intense physical activity for at least 24 hours as treatment continues. A gentle walk is generally acceptable and can help with the integration process.

Some people report relief after one or two appointments however for long-standing issues further appointments may be needed.
In certain circumstances, further investigations may be suggested which could include an x-ray or blood test. This will allow a full diagnosis of the problem and will enable the practitioner to tailor a treatment plan to your needs.
For adults it's recommend a commitment to consistent appointments over a period of time in order to achieve optimal results.
For children and babies its recommend consistent, shorter appointments over a shorter period of time.

Once presenting symptoms have diminished you will be given the option to cease treatment or continue with maintenance appointments - usually every 4-6 weeks.
For children, maintenance appointments are once or twice a year to assist with development, various tumbles and infections.

Unfortunately craniosacral therapy is not available through the UK National Health Service (NHS).
However GP’s and doctors can refer patients to practitioners registered with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
